Fun Stuff

My music buddy Ron needed a second cameraman to film the Burt Teague Band at the Mohegan Sun Casino. My job was to simply roam around with a camera. I have never had the opportunity to be backstage in a large venue such as this. Great fun! The trumpet player seen in the pic's is another musician friend Dave Cafro.

Figure Painting

Today's figure painting session in the Silver Circle Gallery downstairs studio. Approximately 1 hour for this one. I used some Utrecht bristle brushes which I liked very much. Also used Utrecht oil colors for the blues and greens. I liked the smooth feel while applying them. All in all a good session.

Dutch Harbor

Started this painting while hanging out in Dutch Harbor on Conanicut Island. I was struggling with the composition. I ended up adding a boat that wasn't originally there. In hindsight, this REALLY didn't work. I guess the problems were mostly because of painting outside and not being able to deal with the bright hot sun!

Sean Farrell Paintings

These are the oil sketches created by Sean Farrell during our paint session in which we posed for each other. It was 30 minutes for each one. Amazing work!

Home to Belfast

Brenden taking the painting back to Belfast where it was painted.

Drawing Session

I attended a drawing session in the Silver Circle Gallery basement studio with several other artists tonight. The model didn't show up so we posed for each other. The following portraits are of Karen Reid, Bud Cook, and Sean Farrell. Each drawing was 30 minutes

Jamestown Again

Returned to Dutch Harbor on Conanicut Island again to see if I could make something out of this beautiful harbor. It has been an overcast day with the sun peeking in and out so it made for fast painting to capture the initial light. I am running low on paint and am completely out of blues such as Cobalt and Ultramarine. As a result it is forcing me to use a Windsor Newton Cerulean blue that I dug out from the bottom of my paint box. Luckily, it interacts nicely with the Utrecht Orange I am using.

Expanding out from Matunuck

My first paint session out of Matunuck in quite a while! Spent the morning painting in Jamestown. This painting is from Dutch Harbor. Last night's rain soaked all of my canvas and paint rags so I only had an 8x10 and a paper lunch bag to wipe my brushes.
